DET Mock Test 6
The sixth disjoint set. Use it as a final check before test day: like the other five it is equated to within two points, so the number is directly comparable with your earlier results.
- About an hour, eight sections, run in the real order
- All 13 question types — nothing here appears in the other five tests
- Eight subscores and per-answer feedback the moment you finish
Mock Test 6 is a full sitting, not a sample. It opens with a short start screen — no camera, no permission prompts — then runs the eight sections in the order Duolingo runs them and ends with a scored report. Budget an uninterrupted hour, and have a microphone ready for the speaking section, where your browser asks for it.
Free for a limited time. No card, and no account needed to take it or to see your score.
What Mock Test 6 is built from
Eight sections, in the order you will meet them on the day. Everything in the right-hand column belongs to Mock Test 6 alone — none of it appears in the other five tests — and where a section draws from a pool, the engine picks what suits the level you are working at, so two people taking this test will not meet exactly the same items, or even the same number of them.
| Section | Task types | In Mock Test 6 |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Read & Select | Read & Select | 15–18 of its 67 real and invented words, 5 seconds each |
| 2 · Fill in the Blanks | Fill in the Blanks | 6–9 of its 20 sentences |
| 3 · Mixed Language Skills | Listen & Type, Read & Complete | 9–15 items in 24 minutes, from its 18 passages and 29 audio clips |
| 4 · Interactive Reading | Interactive Reading | Two of: Race day for father and daughter; Bees on the town hall roof; Why self-tickling fails; When railways set the clocks — five steps each |
| 5 · Interactive Listening | Interactive Listening | Two of these conversations: You go to the post office to send a birthday present to your cousin abroad. You go to a theatre box office because you booked tickets for the wrong date. You go to the exams office because two of your exams are at the same time. You speak to a laboratory technician after missing a safety session you need for your chemistry practicals. You meet someone from the payroll office about a mistake in your monthly pay. |
| 6 · Writing | Write About the Photo, Writing Sample | Four written responses, two of them about photographs from this test’s three: A smiling bearded teacher in a grey jumper standing at the front of a classroom next to a dark green board while a student raises a hand to ask a question; the other students; A crowded sandy beach at sunset; A young family having a picnic on a white checked blanket in long grass: a woman holds a baby wearing a pink headband |
| 7 · Speaking | Speak About the Photo, Interactive Speaking | The remaining photograph, described aloud, then a spoken conversation |
| 8 · Writing & Speaking Sample | Writing Sample, Speaking Sample | 8 minutes on open prompts |
When to take Mock Test 6
Save it for the last few days before the real test, the same way as Test 3: one uninterrupted hour at the time of day you will sit the DET. If you have used Test 3 already, this is your untouched dress rehearsal.
That order is a suggestion, not a requirement: the six tests are equated — a score means the same on each — so any of them can come first. What matters is leaving enough work between sittings for the next score to mean something.
What to bring, and what you get
Bring an unaided hour and finish every task. You leave with a predicted overall and all eight subscores — see the sample report — and the mock tests page covers getting a number worth trusting. The official test costs $70 USD; find your weak spots before you pay for it.
